Biography

Early life and education

Francesca Bettridge, FAIA is a graduate of Barnard College, where she was an art history major.  She studied at Parsons School of Design.  She also studied at the Open Atelier of Design, which she co-founded.

Career in Architecture

Bettridge is the President and a Principal Architect of Cline Bettridge Bernstein Lighting Design. [1] There, she contributes commitment and creativity to sustainable design to her projects.  She has been honored with over 70 lighting awards such as Lumen Awards of Excellence and Citations, A/L Magazine Outstanding Achievement Awards, IALD Awards of Excellence and Awards of Merit and IES Illumination Awards

She has taught at the Fashion Institute of Technology and at Parsons School of Design.  She is a fellow of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and has served on the Board of Managers and the Richard Kelly Scholarship Committee of the IES New York Section.  She is lighting certified by the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions and currently serves on Architectural Lighting Magazine’s Advisory Board.
