Amy Slattery is a Senior Architect and Project Manager with Burns & McDonnell where she leads their Critical Environments design practice. Her strengths include project management and design critique for complex building types, with a specialization in leading integrated project teams, science & technology, higher education, arts facilities, and sustainable strategies. An established leader and advocate for diversity in the profession of architecture, Amy was recognized by Engineering-News Record as a Midwest Top 20 under 40 in 2012 and was an American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Young Architects Award recipient in 2011. Through her involvement with the AIA at local, regional and national levels, she has emerged as a national voice advocating for diversity and emerging professionals.  Within her industry, Amy is perhaps best known for her role in creating Women in Design Kansas City in 2005, a flourishing organization that has set a precedent for the many subsequent women in architecture organizations throughout the country.

Amy has been invited to speak on the topic of gender parity in architecture at Yale School of Architecture and Kansas State University. She has also given lectures in professional practice at the University of Missouri Kansas City and Johnson County Community College and often serves as visiting design critic for the University of Kansas School of Architecture. In addition to KU, Amy is currently on the Advisory Boards for the University of Missouri Architectural Studies Department and Drury University Hammons School of Architecture.

Amy is a design advocate in the Kansas City community, serving on the Advisory Board for the Port Authority of Kansas City and influencing the evolving riverfront development, as well as a chair-elect of the University of Kansas Hospital Authority Young Professionals Alliance. She currently serves on the board of directors for Kansas City Commercial Real Estate Women (KC CREW) and is chair of the National Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network Communications Committee.

Amy is married to architect Sean Slattery at el dorado architects, and together they balance the demands of the profession while raising two young children. Architecture is intimately woven into her personal life and she has become a recognized voice regarding life/work balance in architecture and commercial real estate circles. Many young architects call her their mentor, although informal, and she sets the precedent for how architects can lead in their communities while growing a successful design practice.
