Early life and education

Doris Cole was born in Chicago, Illinois to Louis Cole and Helen Exley Moore Cole. She graduated from East Grand Rapids High School in Michigan in 1955. She received the AB cum laude in 1959 from Radcliffe College in Cambridge, MA and the MArch from Harvard University Graduate School of Design in 1963.

Her professional and personal papers are part of the Doris Cole and Harold Goyette Collection at the Harvard University, Graduate School of Design, Loeb Library, Special Collections.
