Biography

Elizabeth Finkelshteyn joined FXFOWLE in 1981 and is currently the Director of the Urban Studio. Elizabeth was the Senior Technical Architect for the award-winning New York Times Building, a 1.3 million-square-foot high-rise office building recently completed in Times Square. She was also a Technical Advisor for the LEED Gold certified Eleven Times Square office tower, recently constructed on the adjacent lot; and Project Director for Archstone Clinton, a mixed-use development comprising 630 residential units, space for three non-profit theater groups, retail space, and below-grade parking, all connected with grade and roof-level open spaces. The project received LEED Certification from the USGBC.

Additional recent projects include the 1,050,000 square-foot Northside Piers & Palmer’s Dock in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn; the West Village Residences, a 650,000 square foot development that creatively revitalizes a historic institutional campus into a new residential development integrated into the fabric of Greenwich Village; and technical oversight of a new LEED Platinum certified Headquarters Expansion for SAP outside of Philadelphia.

Elizabeth brings to these major undertakings her considerable experience with large commercial projects in New York City, notably a new office building for Republic National Bank and the 43-story Embassy Suites Hotel and Palace Theatre in Times Square. Her portfolio also includes the Tenneco’s Executive Offices and Conference Center, the renovation of a Medical School Dormitory in Manhattan, a new physical education center for the Dalton School, and Yeshiva Rabbi Chaim Berlin in Brooklyn.

Before joining FXFOWLE, Elizabeth was a Project Architect in the former Soviet Union where she worked on several original residential developments. Elizabeth received her Master of Architecture in 1976 from the University of Dnipropetrovsk Polytechnic Institute in Ukraine.
