Biography

Career in Architecture

Celia Imrey, AIA Associate, LEED AP, is a graduate of Yale University (Masters of Architecture) and Brown University (Bachelor of Art and Semiotics, Magna Cum Laude.)

Imrey founded Inline Studio in 1996, and then Imrey Culbert in 2000 with Tim Culbert.  In 2011, Culbert and Imrey amicably decided to work on design projects separately.  Imrey Culbert LP in New York and Imrey Culbert Architectes SARL in Paris continues its on-going design work.  Imrey’s prior architectural experience includes working for I. M. Pei, Pei Cobb Freed and Partners, and William McDonough and Partners.

Imrey has taught over 20 architecture and art courses at Yale, Brown, Columbia/Barnard and NYU, and is a regular invited critic for architecture juries. She has lectured on a wide range of topics and her work (Imrey Culbert) has been published in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Architecture Record, Casabella, Architectural Digest, Arch News, Design Boom, Archinect, Oculus, Archdaily, Bustler, Design Intelligence, Dezeen.
