Biography

Career in Architecture

Diane was the first female partner of SOM. Her practice focused on commercial and institutional projects, including: Arlington International Racecourse, Boston Globe Printing Plant, Chicago Tribune Printing Plant, Evanston Children’s Center, Northwestern University, US Department of Labor Job Corps Campus, Olympia Centre (mixed use highrise), and numerous highrise office buildings in the US

Diane formed DLK in October, 1989, after leaving SOM. Transportation and infrastructure projects included: Congress Plaza Reconstruction, Chicago (AIA National Honor Award), Roosevelt Road Reconstruction (Local AIA award), Wacker Drive Reconstruction (Local AIA award. DLK was closed in September, 2010, to allow Diane to focus solely on transportation/infrastructure planning and design projects.

Currently, Diane is a senior member of the RTKL Planning + Urban Design worldwide team, using her skills and experience as an architect, landscape architect and planner on complex, large scale projects both in Asia and the USA. She is leading the development of the RTKL Global Mobility Team with parent company Arcadis in offering performance-driven design for transportation + infrastructure projects.
